Storm and Hail Damage by IntegriBuilt Roofing

Storm damage

What the work involves.

North Texas takes more damaging hail than almost anywhere in the country, and most of what it does to a composition roof is invisible from the ground. A hail bruise is a soft spot where the stone knocked the granules loose and fractured the mat underneath. The roof does not leak that week. It leaks in two or three years, once the exposed mat has taken enough sun.

Which is why the inspection is the whole job. Our inspectors are HAAG certified, which is the standard the insurance industry itself trains to, and the report goes to the carrier as photographs and measurements rather than as an opinion. A claim that gets denied usually gets denied because the documentation was thin.

How It Works

01

Inspection

Somebody walks the roof and photographs what is up there. On a house that is under an hour. On a commercial roof it depends on the square footage.

02

The written report

What was found, what it means, and what the options are, with the photographs behind it. If the roof is fine, that is what the report says.

03

Estimate or claim

A written estimate you can budget against. Where storm damage is involved, the report is also what the insurance claim is built from.

04

The work

On a schedule agreed before anyone arrives, planned around a building that is still in use or a family that still lives there.

05

After

Three magnet passes over a residential property. On commercial and multifamily roofs, routine maintenance visits that keep the manufacturer warranty in force.

The Difference

The parts that decide how long it lasts.

On a house the storm rarely stops at the roof. Fences, siding, gutters, screens and interior water damage come in the same claim, and we can act as the general contractor for the whole restoration so the homeowner is not coordinating four trades. On a commercial or multifamily property the same applies at a different scale, building by building.

Before You Call

Storm damage, answered.

How do I know if my roof was damaged?

Often you cannot from the ground, which is the problem with hail. Neighbors getting roofs replaced is a reasonable signal. So is a storm you remember. An inspection is free and it settles it either way.

What if the inspection finds nothing?

Then you have that in writing, and it costs you nothing. Plenty of roofs we look at after a storm are fine, and we say so.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

Yes. We document the damage, provide the photographs and measurements the carrier needs, and stay with the claim through the process so you are not translating between an adjuster and a contractor.

Does filing a claim raise my premium?

That is a question for your agent rather than your roofer, and the answer depends on your carrier and your history. What we can tell you is what the damage is and what it will do if it is left.

What about the fence and the gutters?

They are usually part of the same claim. We can act as the general contractor across the whole storm scope rather than handing you a list of other trades to chase.

Every one of these starts with somebody on the roof and a written report.
